Pinfold Wall Restoration

Pinfold Wall Restoration

Following community fundraising and funding from the Parish Council, Dick Jeffs has started work on our historic Pinfold Wall – it’s looking much better already.

Pinfolds were open air pounds for stray farm animals and were a feature of English villages from the 16th century. For the Festival of Britain in 1951 the Women’s Institute cleared Caldecott’s Pinfold area and turned it into a wayside garden installing a teak bench. The wall has been crumbling for a few years now so it is great to see it finally being restored.
